Weeds Invading Our Native Forest

The Macdonaldsisation of our forest wilderness

Weeds in our native forests are an enormous problem. Unfortunately the Government is doing virtually nothing about solving the situation and each year that they neglect this responsibility, the problem gets that much worse.

Blackberries taking over huge areas of our native forests, particularly along the wet areas.

Bridal Creeper can be seen here totally smothering the understory of the forest. Pine trees can also be seen moving in on the environment.

Pines and Blackberries in amongst native forest

This shot show the invasion of pine tree, bridal creeper and blackberries on our forests.

Top: Underneath this carpet of blackberry bushes is an all year round stream.

Right: A small area of the stream not covered by blackberries. Blackberries can be seen on the side of the hill working their way down.
