COMMENT		Not only had this area been logged, but before local artists and woodworkers could salvage the masses of wood left behind, Bunnings burned all remnants of the forest.

COMMENT		'Tree 3' on Loop Road in Boorara was destroyed by Bunnings fallers in March 2000 after cable was removed by a rigger employed by CALM with full police assistance. There were about 10 hollows in this tree being used by birds until the tree was felled to stop protestors defending the forest. This tree was never meant to be cut down - it is outside the harvesting area.

COMMENT		Blackbutt trees are now very rare and this large one was only 100 metres or so from a major tourist road. Despite the wonderful timber qualities of this unique tree, only a small section was taken and the rest left in the mutilated forest. The remaining wood will probably end up being burned in CALM's next forest burn off.
