COMMENT This unique stump still has the plank that loggers used to stand on while they destroyed the tree, embedded in its side. The tree attempted to re-grow, but was beaten by the rising waters of the Wellington dam.

COMMENT This stump shows us the kind of trees that once graced our forests. The trees in the background show us what is left after logging companies have vandalised the forest.

COMMENT Only recently discovered, this stump looks little different to when the tree was first destroyed. One of the standing planks still sitting loosely in its notch.

COMMENT This old stump is over three metres high. After being cut down, the entire tree was simply left to rot - bottom left corner.

COMMENT This stump is pretty much all that is left to show us what this forest was once like. These days the forest is just skinny regrowth and clearfelled areas. A disgrace to the timber industry and a disgrace to CALM.
